Mid 20th Century James Purdey and Sons enamel advertising sign, Purdey is widely considered the most famous gun maker in England, producing guns and accessories such as the shot cartridges shown in this enamelled sign since 1814. Their first royal warrant in 1868 was given by the Prince of Wales later King Edward the seventh followed in 1878 by the royal warrant from Queen Victoria herself having purchased many guns from James Purdey and Sons. This “King of Gunmakers” is a company that is still forging ahead today.
